Pre-Production
As an editor, my role in pre-production is essential to setting up a smooth workflow and aligning the editing style with the creative vision of the project. By collaborating with the director and cinematographer, I ensure that each scene is planned with transitions, pacing, and thematic elements in mind. This includes discussions around the desired color palette, shot types, and any specific stylistic choices like match cuts or slow-motion montages. Establishing these editing techniques early on helps create a consistent tone and structure, allowing me to bring out the emotional depth and rhythm needed to enhance the narrative during the post-production process.

Post-Production
In crafting this timeline, I focused on precise pacing and deliberate cuts to maintain the emotional intensity of each scene. The arrangement balances moments of lingering stillness with tighter cuts, allowing tension to build and release in sync with the characters’ journeys. Each transition is carefully chosen to emphasize shifts in mood, while match cuts and subtle effects enhance continuity and immersion. This approach to pacing not only draws viewers deeper into the narrative but also highlights the nuanced dynamics between characters, keeping the audience engaged from scene to scene.
Colour Grading
The color grading in these images serves to differentiate the timelines visually and emotionally, using color as a storytelling tool. For the past timeline, warmer tones dominate, with rich oranges, soft yellows, and sunlit highlights. These colours evoke a sense of nostalgia, warmth, and memory, underscoring moments of connection and happiness. In contrast, the present timeline is rendered in cooler tones, incorporating blues and desaturated colors that create a sense of detachment, introspection, and perhaps melancholy. This shift in colour palette between past and present adds a layer of emotional depth, guiding the viewer's perception of each timeline and emphasising the thematic contrasts within the story.
